During last week's Spring Break, we decided to stay close to home. We've always loved hiking and getting outdoors and now that I'm getting over "my kids are going to wander off and get eaten by a bear!" phobia, we decided to check out South Mountains State Park for a day trip. This park was AMAZING! We had such a great time and the kid's had a blast! We hiked the 3 mile trail that lead us to High Shoals Falls. It was a pretty cool hike with lots of rocks to climb over, a river to follow and at the end a BUNCH of stairs leading to the top of the falls. Once we reached the top, we had a mandatory (for mom:) rest break and then headed back down. We found this neat little swimming area and although the water was freezing, Abby and Carter did some swimming. We took a ton of pictures (I know, that's a shocker! lol) so here are a few from our day.

in a nutshell...

I wish I had some great reason why it's been more than 6 months since the last time I actually posted anything.... There are about 100 things I could use as an excuse, but they'd all be that.. just an excuse:) So, for the 5 of you who've been wondering what I've been up to during the past 6 months, here's a quick recap.

July - Wonderful trip to Florida to spend some time basking in the sun with some of my favorite people.

August - Kids went back to school.... my sleeping til 11:00 and going to bed at 2:00 came to a sudden and screeching stop... darn those alarm clocks and school bells:)

September - Went back to work at a job that I absolutely LOVE with people I absolutely adore! BTW: 4 and 5 year olds totally rock!

October - Celebrated my 36th birthday with the amazing team of staff and incredible volunteers of Ridge Church @ the n*rich conference for North Point Strategic partners in Atlanta at Buckhead Church.

November - We were so blessed to have Rusty's family come to North Carolina for our family's first Thanksgiving without Mom. We made Chex Mix, told funny stories about her and by the time the first tin was full, it seemed like she was right there with us:)

December - Spent Christmas with my family in Fort Myers and laughed over and over as my Grandma repeatedly told me how 'hot' her physical therapist was:) Enjoyed seeing some great friends and wearing short sleeves for 10 days.

January - well, I guess that brings you up to speed... I am heading back to Florida on Wednesday.... my Grandmother (yes, the one with the hot physical therapist:) is in failing health. I am so incredibly blessed to have a husband, whose first words, after he hugged me, were to tell me to go book a flight home to be with her. What would I do without him?

So, there ya go... my last 6 months, in a nutshell!
