Prayer

When Rusty and I moved to North Carolina we decided to make quite a few life changes along the way. One of those changes was praying together everyday. I'm not saying we didn't pray together before. Sure, we prayed for the kids when they were sick, we prayed for friends and family (usually when asked first), we prayed before road trips and for crazy work weeks. What I'm saying is that we didn't pray to praise Him, we prayed for needs that arose in our lives. There is a HUGE difference! Now we pray every morning before we even get out of bed. We pray if we oversleep, we pray if it's 60 degrees in the house (because I forgot to turn on the heat!), we pray with head colds and we pray when we are angry (ever tried praying with someone you're ticked off at??? you usually don't stay mad very long...). There have been a handful of times that somehow, we missed it... On those days we have prayed by texting, prayed over the phone and prayed in an email. It's just that important to us now. We often talk about how our walk with the Lord seems so much closer now.... so much more like a best friend, not like the distant relative you talk with once every two months. It has been amazing! One of the things Rusty and I pray every morning, is that the Lord will bring us closer together, by bringing us closer to Him. I believe He has answered that prayer many times over what we could ever have expected! I feel empty on those days we missed praying, Rusty has said the same thing to me. This is one thing in our lives that we feel so strongly about and I believe it to be such an important part of marriage. Somedays I wonder how we ever made it this far without it..... I found this quote by Martin Luther King Jr. that I wholeheartedly believe in.... “To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.”
Do you agree???

Oh my yes.....it seems that my prayer has become so much more of a conversation with Him. When I am in the car, I find myself talking to him. In the shower..those times when I am alone and feel like I need to just get it off my chest. I am so thankful that God listens and He is good all the time...

hmm.. I like that quote a lot.. I love that we can talk to him just as we speak to a friend and not just this great big God that is looking down on us... I miss you and Rusty and the kids of course... you guys are very loved!!

I loved reading this post!! God blessed Mick & I for doing this. It was our last moments together. A prayer, a kiss & a wave good bye. My last memory. How awesome is it that our last moments together were spent praying? May God bless your marriage immensely for this precious time the two of you spend honoring HIM, honoring each other!
